4 Ways to be Grateful and Strong When Everything is Going Wrong

How often do you let go of what you think your life is supposed to look like, and sincerely appreciate it for everything it is?

Always try to remind yourself to practice gratitude through thick and thin. Doesn’t matter, the good or bad days, we must always wake up and be grateful for our lives, because there might be some people in someplace who are desperately fighting for theirs. Being grateful for what you have is easier said than done. The hustle-bustle of our lives and the lifestyle we aim, gratitude comes hard, even more, when the hard times hit.
"Struggle ends when gratitude begins!"
There are times when we freak out even at the littlest of things. Rather than learning from the experience, we create tragedies for ourselves. Minor incidents take shape of big issues, things not going on as planned or expected, we clearly let stress become us. Just because the end result is not exactly what we wanted, we ignore the small bits of progress too.

It is not about rejoicing in the bad times or pain but to grow while going through them. To help you take the path of being grateful when everything seems to be going wrong, here are some ways –
"It’s not the happiness that brings us gratitude. It’s gratitude that brings us happiness."
TRY TO FIND GRATITUDE AROUND DIFFICULT PEOPLE

You cannot expect everyone to treat you like the way you treat everybody. Some people might lose their temper and act unwisely out of no reason, THIS IS REALITY. It must be accepted. Spreading out fairness, kindness, compassion and respect is not everyone’s cup of tea.  So, begin by removing expectations of others especially the difficult ones. Don’t lower your standards and start avoiding being disappointed by them.

You can be grateful for sharing life with the people who are far less difficult. You can be grateful for having the experience of practising patience, tempering your anger, and communication. You can be grateful for having a teacher-figure who is helping you to grow stronger. And last but not least; you can be grateful for them giving you a reminder of how not to be.

TRY TO FIND GRATITUDE WHEN YOU ARE OVERWHELMED

The more we become familiar with situations or a relationship, the more we tend to take them for granted. Feeling frustrated and annoyed in stressful and busy times is pretty normal. To find gratitude even when the hard times hit, let’s challenge ourselves to flip the perspective. Let’s start adding the phrase “... and I love it!” to any overwhelming thought. Reframe it with a simple trick–

I need to do house chores, go grocery shopping, work for 9 hours ... and I love it!
I have a dozen of bills to pay today ... and I love it!

Let this simple tool of reframing the situations give you the perspective you need because after all, the everyday things that give us an overwhelming feeling are often blessings in disguise.

TRY TO FIND GRATITUDE AFTER LOSING YOUR JOB

Let’s understand like this – a chess game cannot be won by moving forward, sometimes you have to move backwards too. Similar is the situation of life. Losing your job can be painful but it’s not the end. It is the beginning of everything that comes next. Let the heaviness of being successful be replaced by the lightness of starting over. Take this as an opportunity to reinvent yourself and to refresh life.

Give yourself a timely reminder that you can find gratitude wherever you are. You can be grateful for the opportunity of reinventing, for pushing you out of your comfort zone and getting to explore more and learn new skills. You can be grateful for the situation that is making you stronger amid growing pains.
"Gratitude changes everything!"
TRY TO FIND GRATITUDE IN THE MIDDLE OF HEALTH PROBLEMS

Imagine if you come to know that after a month, you are going to die! What will you do? You’ll start seeing each day with a new perspective. You’ll try to experience every ounce of happiness there is in the world. You’ll start ticking things off from your bucket list. You might not want to waste a single second being sad. So why not now? There is a need to start appreciating every year with the same zeal, passion and purpose. Having health problems can never be fun, but the pain can be taken in a sense of gratitude. You can be grateful for having the chance to move forward on our own terms. You can be grateful for having a life worth living. You can find gratitude from moment to precious moment.
